Early Hip and Knee Osteoarthritis

The Early Hip and Knee Osteoarthritis PSP looked at unanswered research questions about the stage of osteoarthritis before joint replacement is considered.

Osteoarthritis can affect patients over a long period of time, and the different phases of the disease will present different uncertainties for patients and healthcare professionals. Some of the questions raised in the original Hip and Knee Replacement for Osteoarthritis PSP survey did not fall within the scope of that PSP. These unanswered research questions, specifically concerning earlier treatment options, needed their own PSP to be considered satisfactorily.

The Early Hip and Knee Osteoarthritis PSP was coordinated by the NIHR Oxford Biomedical Research Centre.  It received 217 responses to its initial survey, which contained 1,168 questions for the PSP to review.

The Early Hip and Knee Osteoarthritis PSP published its Top 10 in July 2016.
