This document sets out the Terms of Reference for the Steering Group of the James Lind Alliance (JLA) Gorton Community Priority Setting Partnership (PSP). Find out more about Priority Setting

What is a Terms of Reference?

A Terms of Reference provides guidelines and clear direction to group members to help manage expectations and to enable the group to hold itself accountable for its activities. It also provides a frame of reference that can be used to make informed decisions when steering the direction of the PSP.

Membership

The membership of this Steering Group is a balance of Gorton residents, health & wellbeing professionals and community leaders with an interest in the health and wellbeing priorities of Gorton Residents.

Meeting Attendance Requirement (Quorums)

The group will need to have 10 members present to make sure our meetings are valid and effective. We also aim to have a fair mix of representatives from different stakeholder groups among those 6 people.

Specific tasks

  • Help spread the word about the PSP and its results to the public.
  • Attend 4-6 meetings with the Steering Group.
  • Share your thoughts and guide project plans and materials.
  • Work together to plan and decide how to do each part of the PSP.
  • Use your expertise to make our work relevant to the communities involved.
  • Be as involved as you want to be and participate actively.

Our groups principles

  • Equality: Everyone's knowledge and experiences are equally important. We treat opinions equally and respect differences in viewpoints.
  • Fairness and transparency: We openly declare any personal interests, and all decisions and activities are documented transparently.
  • Evidence-based: We make sure that our work acknowledges and builds upon existing knowledge.

Our Code of Conduct

Members are valued for their personal and professional standards, and their role in upholding the reputation of the PSP and the JLA. As a member, you are expected to:

  • Respect the confidentiality of sensitive information shared within the group.
  • Embrace diversity and inclusion, treating everyone with fairness and without discrimination.

We want all individuals involved in the PSP to feel comfortable, respected, and empowered to contribute fully. Your input is highly valued!

Anyone found to have broken this code may be removed from the Steering Group at the discretion of the PSP leader. Any concerns related to conduct should be raised with the PSP leader and/or the JLA Adviser. Hannah Turner-Uaandja or Toto Gronlund.
